Better circulation and heat dissipation performance
The fan is very quiet, even on 5V. The temperature of the CPU could drop around 30 Degrees at 5V with 35mm big fan with heat sinks.
Especially that Mid plate trapping the air from the fan could be better circulation and keep your Pi cooler if you want to overclock.
