Also referred to as whole black gram, whole organic urad is a small black bean that has a glutinous texture. It's commonly used in Indian cooking to make Papad, Idli, Vada and Dosa as well as curries. Highly nutritious, organic urad complements vegan and vegetarian lifestyles as a Certified USDA Organic, non-GMO and vegan product. Black gram, or whole urad, has been cultivated in India since ancient times and serves as one of the most prized pulses of both India and Pakistan. Rich in nutrients, organic urad is especially beneficial for vegans and vegetarian lifestyles, as a 100-gram serving urad provides 18 grams, or 72 percent of daily dietary fiber needs as well as 25 grams or 50 percent of daily protein needs.
