Make the best out of your wicks with these tips:

  • Before lighting it: let the new wick absorb the oil in the lamp or torch before lighting it for the first time.
  • DO NOT overexpose: the flame could turn unsteady, ragged, smoke excessively and waste fuel.
  • Find the right spot: our fiberglass wicks require only about 1/4" to 1/2" exposure from the torch or lamp.
  • Work your way up: It's best to start with a 1/4" inch exposed wick, and work your way up from there until you achieve your desired flame.
  • Take care of your wick: if contaminated with water of poor-quality fuel, you will need to replace it.
  • Switch between fuels: you will need a wick per fuel. Meaning, if you wish to change fuels, you will need to change wicks.
